About the New Karate to Tai Chi Book!

Hi Guys and Gals.

This is to announce the official release of
‘Chiang Nan’

Chiang Nan is the title I settled on, the working title is
‘How to Translate Karate into Tai Chi Chuan.’
So Chiang Nan,
or ‘How to Translate Karate into Tai Chi Chuan
was originally bundled into the course.
You can get it in PDF if you order the course.

I just published the official book
‘How to Translate Karate into Tai Chi Chuan,’
and it is available on Amazon.
The official title is…

‘Chiang Nan’

and here’s the link…

https://www.amazon.com/Chiang-Nan-Al-Case/dp/198767765X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1523645901&sr=8-1&keywords=chiang+nan

And for those who don’t know what it is about…
As the subtitle says,
it teaches one how to make karate into tai chi chuan.

If you have been studying karate,
this will expand your concepts of karate by ten times.
Different way of looking at form applications.
Different way of doing the form.
Really opens the mind.

If you have been studying Tai Chi Chuan,
you will learn a lot about techniques,
doing other arts tai chi style,
and so on.

Look,
it’s a different kind of strength,
different energy,
a whole and complete education.
If you know just the hard arts,
you need to know the soft.
or you only have half an art.

If you know just the soft arts,
you need to know the hard,
or you only have half an art.

This is a 270 page book
(three in one, actually)
that covers how to translate karate into tai chi,
what the lost form,
the original form that karate came from,
might look,
and the secret techniques of karate…
deliberately hidden by the secret pact
made by Okinawan karate masters.

So check it out on Amazon,
or just get the PDF by ordering the course through
MonsterMartialArts.com.

Have a great work out!

RELEASE OF A NEW MARTIAL ART VIDEO COURSE!

I haven’t released a martial arts video course for a while,
but it is worth the wait.
This is going to be one heck of a state of the art course!

The title is

How to Translate Karate into Tai Chi Chuan

The course is on 6 DVDs.
That’s over 5 hours of video instruction.
Plus,
if you wish,
you can order the book (PDF) along with the course.
I haven’t even published the book!
But you can get it,
and it will be cheaper than it you buy it separately.
The offer is on this page…

http://monstermartialarts.com/how-to-translate-karate-into-tai-chi-chuan/

Now,
here’s something incredible,
this course is three in one.

First, there is:

How to Translate Karate into Tai Chi Chuan

Second, there is:

my attempts to resurrect the original form
from which all karate grew.
Didn’t even know there was an original form, eh?
The story of this form is on the web page.

Third, there is:

the secret bunkai of karate.
And, yes, they are secret.
The old masters of Okinawa,
when karate began to be exported,
held a meeting and made a secret pact
that they would never reveal the real forms,
that they would never reveal the real techniques.
Sheesh!
What a bunch of boneheads!
Can’t tell you how much damage they have done to Karate.
So this is a look at what those techniques would be.

In writing this book,
I used matrixing,
my experiences in karate,
my experiences in kung fu,
my experiences in separating and making pure
a variety of different martial arts.

So,
that’s the skinny.
Check out the web page,

http://monstermartialarts.com/how-to-translate-karate-into-tai-chi-chuan/

let me know what you think,

Changing Education in the Martial Arts

Newsletter 898

Old Martial Arts Technology vs New

Good afternoon!
Let’s talk about the old martial arts technology,
and what it may be doing to you.

Old technology is drilling until your feet fall off.
Until your bones shake with fatigue
and your bone bruises are turning into calcium deposits.
Grrr.

Now,
to be truthful,
I like this method.
Heck,
I love this method.
I love to start a work out
and drive myself until I am ready to drop.
Like a tired dog my head droops,
and I know my teeth work just fine…

BUT,
what is new martial art technology?
Well,
let’s consider a few things.
A couple of hundred years ago,
there was no public education in China.
People learned how to talk by duplicating their parents,
and that was it.
No math,
except what you needed to barter.
And,
if you did get an official education,
in China it was the five excellences.
calligraphy, painting, poetry, t’ai chi, and medicine
No math to speak of,
nothing like physiology, grammar, science, physics,
etcetera, etcetera…
And the really rich people sent their children to western schools to get educated.
Sure,
I’ve probably overstated it,
but not by much.

So,
martial arts were learned by monkey see monkey do,
and nobody ever thought to examine other sciences
to see where they overlapped
and how those other sciences could be used
to understand martial arts.

When I matrixed I began using a form of logic,
a form based in Boolean algebra.
I compared body motion to angles and stresses in physics,
such things as building bridges,
flying airplanes,
and so on.
Of course,
at the core,
I still push the hard work out,
the do it till you drop dead approach.
But I propose that people understand what they are doing
BEFORE
they work out.
Understanding is the prime ingredient.
Would you become a world class musician if you copy catted
your favorite rock stars?
No.
You would just become good imitations,
at best.
If you want to become a good musician
you have to study such things as harmonics,
scales, and understand how vibrations work,
and so on.
Would you become the next Einstein
if you hand copied all his books and notes?
Nope.
Nothing new there,
just a repeat of what has been done.

To be a real artist you must be able to create.

So why don’t people do this in the martial arts?
And they really don’t.
They argue that their style is best,
without experiencing other styles.
They see a guy work out,
so they assume they know what he is doing.
Heck,
I even get people get upset with me.
They get angry when I show them a different way of doing things.
They are so regimented in old styles,
so ingrained with monkey see monkey do
that they cannot learn.
They can’t actually compare and contrast data.
They can’t see how the body can be made to support energy like a bridge,
using the same principles.
They believe in chi as a mystical thing
that people get when they get old,
if they are faithful copycats,
and they never see that chi
is a subject with scientific rules.
They can’t apply science to chi.
But they hold on to their last promotion
because it makes them an authority,
without having to really understand anything.

Now,
here’s the thing,
you doubt me.
Words like ‘snake oil’ come to mind.
Internet scamster,
another get rich quick scheme.
And so on.

I began selling martial arts by mail order
in magazines back in the 80s.
I went internet in 2002,
check the ‘wayback machine’
if you doubt.
I have a solid rep,
and offer a complete money back guarantee.
If a course is not as I describe it,
you get your money back.
Period.

Since the 80s I have refunded money maybe five or six times.
That’s all.
Not once or twice a year…
BUT ONCE OR TWICE A DECADE!
Now that is a statistic!

So,
check out the Matrix Karate page.
Read it carefully,
then order the course.
You will get more than you paid for.
You will get more than you expect.
You will get something you NEVER expected:
a scientific approach
that makes the martial arts ten times easier to learn.
You will get a way of looking at the martial arts,
that makes sense of ALL martial arts.

The alternative,
what you get if you don’t check out Matrix Karate,
and all my other courses,
is the same old same old,
that people have been grinding at for hundreds of years.
Sure,
you will get better.
Slowly and surely.
And you might even achieve mastery
before you get too old.
Maybe.

Master Instructor Reveals Secret About Teaching Karate

Newsletter 897

A New Master Instructor Speaks!

Congratulations to Master Instructor Pat Cluse!
Here’s his win…

Dear Al.
I thank you for developing the Instructor’s Course. As an instructor, I invested in your course because you had said a few things that were of help to me, and I never miss an opportunity to learn.  I figured the price was worth any ‘risk.’
It did not take me long to accept that I had more than my monies’ worth.  Yes, many points you covered are not ‘new’ but were very refreshing and presented at a different angle.
I have modified how I teach, and consider your course notes as a prime reference.
The “SSD” drill has had the greatest impact on myself and students.  Of course I have done 1 on 1 many many times but the pull of other students in the class has impacted on the quality (of my teaching).
In the recent 2 months I have had a senior student run some combinations while I spent time with individuals.  With no ‘external’ pulls I found the process invaluable.  Not only showing the technique in mind, but able to get the student totally attentive, to be able to find/understand the words used, and also to incorporate more fruitful body alignment,  body movement coordination with the techniques, and points of power stress with immediate relaxation. In this short time, none of the students have reverted to pre-“SSD” drill.  The big thing is they now understand what I am teaching.  So I have improved as an instructor…
Thanks, Pat
Thank you, Pat,
and well done.
The drill Pat is referring to,
the “SSD” drill
is an incredibly simple drill,
yet no one ever does it.
It was used a little bit in Kenpo,
then it was dropped by the wayside.
In the Kang Duk Won
the whole system was set up around that drill,
without ever showing what that drill was.
Yet,
it you use that drill in your teachings,
the results are incredible.
Students get what you are saying instantly.
Nobody yawns,
everybody gets how the martial arts work and why.
Students become instantly better,
it speeds up your teachings,
stops people from dropping out (due to confusion, etc.)
and helps create a true art,
that is,
an art with proper alignment,
an art that is usable,
an art that works.
And it is only one drill,
in a course packed with info, data and usable gems.
And it is all scientifically based.

Well enough.
Again,
well done Pat,
and well done to your students…

Master Instructor Speaks from the Heart

Newsletter 895

Congrats to New Master Instructor

Congratulations to new Master Instructor
Garren Lockhart.

Here’s his win…

Mr. Case,
I have received the Master Instructor Course, read it multiple times and have wondered…where has this information been and why is this not required for all instructors that have the care of their students entrusted to them? I was amazed at the principles of Matrixing and how they can take any martial art and develop it into one practicum.
I am a great believer in your “The Three Rules”. I have developed a sort of climate survey for my students to have input on the quality of instruction. I also have another survey for my instructors to evaluate themselves and each other.
(I have deleted a couple of paragraphs here, the material would give away too much of the course…Al)
The most obvious observations I made is that my students seem to “lose” their breath while training. By demonstrating the breathing techniques that you share in the course, I was able to assist in redirecting their breathing patterns.
I look forward to introducing more of your principles into the classes. I have ordered the “Matrix Karate” course and anticipate a great learning and training experience, with it.
Thank you, Mr. Case
Garren Lockhart
Thank you,
Garren,
and well done.
Garren is taking the material
and using it right on the spot
with his students.
Exactly what one is supposed to do in the martial arts.
How do you think people learned before structured classes were invented?
They searched people out,
talked and traded.
Sometimes they fought,
but fighting tends to establish pecking order,
and often people aren’t willing to listen (learn)
to people who have beaten them in such fashion.
Look at your own instructors.
Sure,
they could beat you,
but if they are mean,
you don’t hang around long.
You only listen to people you like.

Anyway,
sort of went on a rant there,
but the point is this…

When you teach, when you share something,
it is as if it leaves a space in your mind,
you have poured out,
and something needs to get poured in.
If your intention has been pure,
if your heart is right,
what comes to you will probably be the next step.

I have found that to always be true.
When I figure something out,
I immediately share it.
Give it away,
talk and teach,
and suddenly I am learning something new,
figuring something else out.
It is a never ending process
that makes your life mean something.

Anyway,
if you want your life to mean something,
get a copy of
The Master Instructor Course.
http://monstermartialarts.com/martial-arts/4-master-instructor-course/
Guaranteed,
as Garren says…
‘…why is this not required for all instructors that have the care of their students entrusted in them?’
Thanks, Garren.
And to all,
Have a great work out!

Relaxing into Zen Karate…

Newsletter 893

The Original Karate

Thanks, guys,
Both the ten book series
‘The Biggest Martial Arts Lesson of All,’
and
Professional Martial Arts Instructor,’
are selling.
Thanks.

Okay,
had a real interesting email the other day,
BW had some interesting observations and expeeriences,
regarding heat in the body,
chi circulation,
and so on.
So here is the skinny on all this…

Chinese martial arts have been around a long time.
And,
they have evolved into Tai Chi,
among other internal forms.
All of which says…martial arts evolve.

When they begin,
they frequently use muscle.
Nothing wrong with that.
Except energy is more efficient,
much stronger.

Ever have a baby clutch your finger?
Won’t let go?
Their ‘strength’ is all out of proportion
to their size and development.
They haven’t developed muscles,
so they use energy,
which needs no development to use.

Before you go crazy on that last statement,
let me make a point:
when we learn muscles (as we grow)
we give up energy.
We simply lose that intuitive ‘chi strength’
that we are born with,
or at least know before we get muscles.
Then,
if we want energy,
we have to learn it all over again.
And this means attaining the understanding that a baby has.
What understanding does a baby have?
He understands how to relax.
Energy,
of course,
flows better through what is relaxed.
Which brings us around
to the idea of Tai Chi.
Learn to relax.

Now,
BW was more concerned with experiencing heat in the body.
Karate was giving him much heat.
Here’s the difference…
Tai Chi is slow,
it is ‘suspended’ energy.
You suspend your body in space,
and that takes a very slow drool of energy
which I call ‘suspended energy.’

Karate explodes.
Both types of energy,
suspended and explosive
create heat.
But Karate creates it faster.

Although,
if you wish,
you can dedicate your TCC to the production of heat,
and your body can get amazingly hot.

Okay,
we have two points here,
relaxing and creating heat/energy.
Let me get to the point.

When Karate came from China
it was taught with an eye to chi power.
People relaxed more in the form,
figured out how to make the tricks work effortlessly.
Then, as the martial arts grew,
people and schools lost that ability.
The Japanese in particular
were obsessed with power,
and that often meant muscular power,
and not chi power.
And example of this is actually given,
though inadvertently,
in the book ‘Moving Zen,’
by CW Nicol.
Mr. Nicol relates the story of a TCC man
who was pounding on a pillar under a huge house.
The house shook,
the karate men couldn’t make it shake with their punches,
and there is a conclusion in there.
But you have to have an open mind to make it.

Anyway,
speaking for myself,
How do I know that what I tell you here is true?
Because I learned a style of Karate called Kang Duk Won.
And it was only a couple of generations removed from China.
Byung In Joon to a couple of Koreans to Bob Babich to me.
Not a long time for it to get corrupted.
Mr. Babich, in particular,
was incredibly light and whippy.
He was like a father that weighed a thousand pounds.
The other people in our school used muscle,
and were in awe of Bob.
I watched Bob,
and tried to figure out what he was doing that was different.
I probably wouldn’t have figured it out,
except that I read a lot of books on zen.
And the secret was:

emptiness.

Space.

Doing nothing until nothing is left undone.

To relax,
even in the middle of form,
even in the middle of technique,
even in the middle of freestyle.

And,
when you relax…
chi flows.
And Chi can create,
among other things…
heat.

Now,
the final thing I want to say,
give you a chance to grok all this,
has to do with being ‘on,’ or ‘off.’

BW observed the difference between his art
when it worked light and whippy,
and…other times.

When you relax your body totally,
when you make ONLY the fist tight,
then you will get a result snap that is incredible,
and different from the art
that all the power mongers out there
want to sell.

But it takes patience,
no resistance,
an emptiness of the mind.

It’s easy to do,
but so easy it’s hard.

Seems like there is always something there to distract you.

Okley dokely.
Nuff said,
I wish you success.
You can check out the Kang Duk Won in my book of the same name,
it’s on Amazon.
Or at the KangDukWon.com site.
Or you can check out what I’ve done with some of the forms here…

including some data on how the art was really formed,
and what for,
and how it was really meant to be used.

What’s Wrong with My Black Belt? A Fool Asks…

Newsletter 892

Why Do I Need a Black Belt from You…

Thanks to all who have purchased
The Biggest Martial Arts Lesson of All!
It’s available on Amazon.
I’ll be putting up links and ads for it
one of these days.

Hey,
I’m not good at social media,
but I was trying to figure it out the other day,
and came across a site
with a lot of bad things to say about me.
I usually laugh at these things,
they’re always written by people
who have never taken a course,
but have an opinion.

For whatever reason,
maybe the desire for abuse,
I read a couple of the ‘complaints.’
And, man,
I got a good one.

‘Why do I need a black belt from you
if I already have one?’

Man,
unfortunately,
the complaint was old,
no way to really respond,
and I actually did want to respond.
My answer would have been:

because your system is probably flawed,
because you monkey see and monkey do learned
without understanding what you are doing.

Look,
I respect that the guy has probably put in some work,
maybe even a few years,
endured some bruises and such,
but he’s basically working at 10%
if he doesn’t know the reasons behind what he is doing.
The unfortunate news is
he wasn’t asking seriously,
he wasn’t seeking,
he was just being a Beavis and Butthead type of guy,
smart mouthing me.

That’s the trouble,
you see.
People want to argue without the facts.
You see it in politics.
The idiot who says things like:
‘You’re a racist,’
when there is NO hint of racism.
Or starts calling people names,
when you ask for the facts.

There is just a s segment of the population,
and this is true of the whole world,
that wants to be heard,
without taking the time to learn anything beforehand.

And,
this is true in the martial arts.
‘Al is bad,
you can’t make a black belt
in less than three years!’

But,
you can,
I’ve got video proof,
but they don’t take the time to see the proof,
they just want to be heard.

Ever hear that old saw?
‘Those who speak do not know,
those who know do not speak.’

That says it all.

Now,
for anybody who DOES want the proof,
who DOES wish to seek out the true martial arts…

Matrix Karate puts order in Karate
(and the martial arts)
MonsterMartialArts.com

There is a COMPLETE course of classical karate
KangDukWon.com.

There is video proof on the three month black belt course
(120 lessons!)
MonsterMartialArts.com

And,
if you can’t afford the SMALL sum asked,
you could always look through my books for proof.

Outlaw Karate: The Secret of the One Year Black Belt,
and many others…

And,
you could simply read my blog,
alcase.wordpress.com,
do a search for the term Master Instructor,
or other related terms,
you will come up with TONS of testimonials,
actual case histories,
if you will,
written by the people who have done the courses,
people who didn’t voice an opinion,
but went looking for the truth.

The truth is scientific.
It can’t be argued with.
But it can be ignored,
unfortunately,
it is usually ignored by those who ‘write’ the loudest.

Okay,
have a FANTASTIC DAY!
and a great work out!

Kung Fu Punch Lines (he he)

Newsletter 888

Martial Arts Punch Lines (get it?)

Happy Labor Day!
I think I’ll labor at the martial arts today.

A quick word,
I had inadvertently taken my list of courses off the site.
This is the full list,
so examine the left sidebar on the Monster,
everything is there.

Now,
came across these little gems,
thought I would share…

You’re not outnumbered,
you’re target rich.

When people ask me what I do for a living:
‘I teach people how to maim and kill.’

Bruises are really just temporary tattoos.

Kung Fu has been curing ADHD
since 500 AD

For my birthday
I want pound cake and punch.

violence isn’t always the answer,
but it sure is an option

the best part of a joke is the punch line.

Okay.
Nuff frivolity.
Let’s get serious.

It is true,
a picture is worth a thousand words.
and,
that being true,
a video is worth a thousand thousand words.
But,
here’s the cruel truth…
you still have to understand what the words mean.

I remember when Karate first hit the shores,
the Japanese said:
‘it will take an American three lifetimes to understand the martial arts.’
And,
that’s true,
if you don’t understand the words.

For me,
chi was the big mysterious.
Thought about it,
tried to figure it out,
made no sense.
Then I started looking up words like:
energy,
force,
spirit,
intention,
will power,
and so on.
And,
suddenly,
it all made sense.

https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=uM1ubDwUxa4

Tell me I don’t understand chi.
Heck,
I can project it outside my body.
You know the funny thing?
I wish somebody had told me
the power of understanding words
back when I was 19.
I would be moving cars,
not just putting out candles.
All my training would have changed,
gone in a different direction.

The power of words.

So,
here’s the whole story…

http://monstermartialarts.com/martial-arts/2f-matrixing-the-master-text/

How I came up with matrixing,
the evolution,
arts studied,
and so on.
All you have to do is understand the words.
But don’t worry,
I’ve included a few pictures to help you out.
Grin.

Okay,
have a great bunch of work outs this labor day.

And,
BTW
GO TEXAS!
To the degree that people rally round,
to the degree that government sits on the sidelines,
to that degree Texas comes back.

have a GREAT work out!

Linking Karate Techniques to make Better Martial Art

Interlinking Martial Arts Forms

Here’s an interesting little trick for you,
one that will open your eyes and expand your art by ten…

I did Kenpo back in 67,
I noticed right away that the forms
were built simple to complex.
Actually,
simple to hard to understand.

You learned your basics with the first two forms,
then everything went haywire,
the forms were lists of techniques,
no real logic behind the sequence of the forms,
or even the relationship of the forms to themselves.
Mind you,
it was fun,
but it was HARD to really learn anything.
You ended up just memorizing,
and doing the martial arts like a dance.

Then I went to the Kung Duk Won
learned the classic Karate forms.
It was still a list of techniques,
but the forms had more meaning,
the arrangement from basics to complex
took on a different meaning.

Before I go on,
here’s a clip from Pinan Five
Give you an idea of how some of this karate stuff works…
https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=Sz1asLo9ktc

Anyway,
before we were so rudely interrupted by the video…
I noticed there was a general trend,
from white belt to black belt,
and the trend went like this…

block then counter
two block and counter
three block and counter
block and counter simultaneous

Do you see the progression?
While it looks like a progression of numbers of blocks,
it was actually a progression of time,
but you might have to see the actual techniques
to understand that particular thing.

One of the things I did
when I started ‘pre-matrixing,’
was make huge lists
of all blocks and counters,
and arrange them according to belt level.
Man,
did that make things easy.

But,
there was something else I noticed at the Kang Duk Won.
The forms expanded on the footwork,
and there was a link between the forms.
Pinan two and four were similar in certain ways.
And Pinan three and five were similar.

This,
again,
I utilized in matrixing.
Not just arranging the numbers of blocks and counters,
but sequencing the blocks and counters in time,
and then…
arranging the forms to accurately represent this linkage.
Zingo bingo,
there was the roots of real matrixing.

So,
go ahead,
do it.
Take your forms,
ask yourself about simplicity and workability,
arrange the techniques,
then arrange your forms,
or rather,
as you will probably have to do,
create new forms to contain
the much more logical and easy to teach techniques.

Guaranteed,
you’re going to twist your head on this stuff,
it took me decades to figure this out,
of course,
I didn’t have the simple things
that I have laid out for you here.

And,
there is an easy way.
Instead of pounding your head in frustration,
instead of doing something with your head
that heads are not well built to do,
just take a gander at

Matrix Karate.

It’s all there.
The linkage of techniques,
the linkage of forms,
freestyle methods to go with belt levels,
AND A BONUS COURSE ON KICKING
with the forms,
the techniques,
and everything in logical order.
AND…
all the distractions of other arts,
arts that do not match up with the basic concepts of karate,
have been eliminated.

Makes for a VERY pure path.
And a very QUICK path.

But don’t believe me.
Twist your head for thirty years,
and then come up with what I already did.

Here’s the link.
