Master Instructor Speaks from the Heart

Newsletter 895

Congrats to New Master Instructor

Congratulations to new Master Instructor
Garren Lockhart.

Here’s his win…

Mr. Case,
I have received the Master Instructor Course, read it multiple times and have wondered…where has this information been and why is this not required for all instructors that have the care of their students entrusted to them? I was amazed at the principles of Matrixing and how they can take any martial art and develop it into one practicum.
I am a great believer in your “The Three Rules”. I have developed a sort of climate survey for my students to have input on the quality of instruction. I also have another survey for my instructors to evaluate themselves and each other.
(I have deleted a couple of paragraphs here, the material would give away too much of the course…Al)
The most obvious observations I made is that my students seem to “lose” their breath while training. By demonstrating the breathing techniques that you share in the course, I was able to assist in redirecting their breathing patterns.
I look forward to introducing more of your principles into the classes. I have ordered the “Matrix Karate” course and anticipate a great learning and training experience, with it.
Thank you, Mr. Case
Garren Lockhart
Thank you,
Garren,
and well done.
Garren is taking the material
and using it right on the spot
with his students.
Exactly what one is supposed to do in the martial arts.
How do you think people learned before structured classes were invented?
They searched people out,
talked and traded.
Sometimes they fought,
but fighting tends to establish pecking order,
and often people aren’t willing to listen (learn)
to people who have beaten them in such fashion.
Look at your own instructors.
Sure,
they could beat you,
but if they are mean,
you don’t hang around long.
You only listen to people you like.

Anyway,
sort of went on a rant there,
but the point is this…

When you teach, when you share something,
it is as if it leaves a space in your mind,
you have poured out,
and something needs to get poured in.
If your intention has been pure,
if your heart is right,
what comes to you will probably be the next step.

I have found that to always be true.
When I figure something out,
I immediately share it.
Give it away,
talk and teach,
and suddenly I am learning something new,
figuring something else out.
It is a never ending process
that makes your life mean something.

Anyway,
if you want your life to mean something,
get a copy of
The Master Instructor Course.

Guaranteed,
as Garren says…
‘…why is this not required for all instructors that have the care of their students entrusted in them?’
Thanks, Garren.
And to all,
Have a great work out!
Al

The Ultimate Method for How to Learn a Karate Form

Learn a  Karate Form the Right Way from the Start!

When it concerns Understanding the best ways to Do a Martial Arts Form, the typical mistaken belief is that that you go into a class with twenty additional individuals, you perform kicks into the air maniacally, then you are a martial artist.

pinan one low block

No, you are a martial arts fan, and you are no place near to being an artist.

A lot of martial artists have not the faintest idea as to the best ways to do a martial arts form. The martial arts just occurred too quickly in the nation, and coaches were fresh off the airplane and either didn’t talk the language, didn’t have adequate experience, or an assortment of additional things.

So right here is exactly how you do a martial arts form.

You find out the very first motion. This typically includes something like standing in one location, stepping in a direction, and doing a low block.

Now, do not acquire the 2nd motion. Work on the very first motion. Take that very first motion home, stand in the center of your bedroom, and do it.

Do not do it quickly and maniacally, do it slowly and gradually. Work on making the hand and the foot move at the same time. Work on ensuring the hips are turning with the hand and the foot. Work on relaxing, then tightening up the fist at the moment of block. Work on breathing. Work on making that karate block or kung fu block the only thing you are doing. Rid the mind of interruptions till there is just the block. not even a thought of you.

Now close your eyes and do the motion. Feel your balance, feel your breath, feel your coordination and weight drop and anything else.

The function of a form is not to discover the best ways to block. An idiot can easily block. the function of the form is to free the mind of distraction, and to make that block the only thing that you are doing.

When the carpenter strikes the nail, is he thinking, or doing without thinking?

And, speaking of carpenters and nails, right here is an innovative, little activity to assist the novice, the other who does not comprehend exactly what I am asking right here and desires to, or also the other with thirty for forty years martial arts experience in a variety of martial arts.

Stand 3 feet away from your automobile with the keys in your hand. Close your eyes. Step forward and place the keys into the doorlock.

Within a short time, I’ll bet, your pretty, bright automobile is going to have a couple of scratches around the keyhole.

I always remember when I was doing this, but sitting in the vehicle and only placing the keys into the ignition with my eyes closed. The spouse comes out and asks just what I’m doing.

Martial Arts, I reply.

Okay, got that block down? Really good, go be taught a 2nd motion, and do the exact same thing all over once more. And do not forget to duplicate the very first lesson so you will not forget it.

I assure that discovering your martial arts forms in this way will certainly tremendously increase your progression in the martial arts. All those amazing motions, you see, are nothing but polished basics. And by utilizing the technique I explain right here you are finding out ways to polish from the get go.

Keep in mind, it is not exactly how many times you do something maniacally and with frenzied energy. It is doing it once with reduced energy and high understanding. Opt for the understanding, that’s the best ways to do a martial arts form.

Karate Instruction Takes a Turn for the Better!

Karate instruction on the Upswing!

Karate instruction, for years, has been on a down path. Back in the fifties people came to America and called themselves black belts, and started instructing, when they were but brown belts, or worse. The premier example of this is Ed Parker, but he is not alone.

Good Karate Instruction Can Be Hard to Find

Over the years people sought higher standards, but it was sort of a losing game. After all, the people of America wanted to learn to fight, and they didn’t seem to understand that fighting is not what the martial arts are really all about; the martial arts, and Karate specifically, is about scientifically taking your opponent apart. When one has this type of efficiency and competence, they aren’t usually interested in fighting anymore. What a delightful martial arts catch 22, eh?

The worst example of this point of love of fighting, I hate to admit it, is the UFC, MMA, and that sort of thing. People gather round the tube and cheer for trash talking head bonkers who present the art in the worst light. What is really wrong with this is that some of the top fighters are polite, hard working, and they get painted with the ‘beavis and butthead’ brush stroke. Sheesh!

Anyway, shove all this aside, there is hope for karate instruction int he united states, and all other martial arts instruction. Generally speaking, the flashy advertisements give way to the search for competence. Some guy who makes a good video on youtube will be found out as a fraud once people start taking his techniques apart.

And, speaking of the internet, probably the most efficient and glaring success in the martial arts home video field is Monster Martial Arts. Monster presents a series of videos which reveal the true martial art in depth. Whole arts are taken apart and dissected for workability…whatever the art ‘matrixed’ (Monster’s particular choice of martial technology), the results are quick, efficient, and free from politics and bushwah.

Hey, does it work? That is the main and real question Monster keeps asking, and keeps answering.

Anyway, because of websites like Monster MArtial Arts one can say that America is overcoming the poorly trained martial arts instructors, the glut of people who just want to fight, and other similar bad influences. The result is a higher class of good karate instruction.

It was at a Karate School that I Learned to Fart on Your Food!

Karate School…and Learning How to Be Politically Incorrect!

As time went on, I realized that having gone to a Karate School, I was not the same as other people. I don’t think I realized how much Karate had made me different until the day I ran a social experiment where I had a Karate student fart on food. FYI, no food was actually harmed in the conducting of this social experiment…grin.

Do you have the gumption to actually fight back at what has been done to you?

I knew I was different because I don’t follow the rules of that are generally followed in society. I was always in trouble, always said the wrong thing, and always being the only person laughing and having a good time. The truth is that breaking the rules and having a good time go together pretty well.

And, I noticed that all the people around me were getting older, especially in their personal attitudes. They started thinking that politicians and other fools and liars were significant, and they grew grim lines on their faces. Me, I just kept studying and training in the martial arts.

One day I ordered this fart machine on the web. You press a button and it makes the wonderful sound of flatulence, and most people are easily fooled. Then I had one of my Karate students slip it in his back pocket, and had him back up to a table at a nearby restaurant.

Now, I expected to have to save him when somebody got angry, but I was wrong. It was a sidewalk cafe, and he would back his fanny right over the table, and hit the button. People stopped talking, looked down at their lunch, and kept right on eating.

I was in shock, farts are actually airborne fecal matter, and every person we did this to just looked down at their plates and kept eating. I would have gotten extremely angry if anybody ever did that to me. So why wasn’t anybody getting angry?

I would have gotten angry because I learned Karate and other martial arts, and I am trained to stand up to idiots who do things like that. Simply, I am not afraid, and especially of some fool who lets out a puffer. And all those people whose toast and sausages we were farting over had not learned martial arts.

The people of this nation, you see, have been trained in school, watched too much TV, and had the gumption socially acclimated right out of them. Political correctness has now replaced the instinct to survive, and people just sit around and be victims…they are afraid to stand up and say: that’s not right and don’t you ever pull that stuff again! So go ahead and continue the way you are going, encourage your kids to go to school and learn how to be politically correct, don’t go to a Karate school or learn kung fu or anything like that, and the next time you sit down and hear a strange sound blowing out the back of somebodys jeans…just look down at your plate and keep eating.

Toss out political correctness, click to MonsterMartialArts.com, go to a real karate school on the net, learn true karate…and start undoing what has been done to you.

Learn Karate By the Simple Trick of Flipping The Matrix

Learn Karate the Right Way!

To learn Karate or Taekwondo or Kenpo, or to learn any martial art, there are many different methods. Unfortunately, most training methods work in limited ways. There is one training tool, however, that can be used in any martial art, and drives the learning curve straight up the wall.

Most methods of learning, you see, rely on monkey see monkey do, which is pretty much the slowest and most inefficient, martial arts method in existence. The fastest and most up to date method for learning a martial art is by the science of matrixing. No offense, but if you live in some out of the way place and haven’t come across matrixing, you could probably do a quick google search on matrix karate, or matrix aikido, and find out what it is.

At any rate, there are some rather simple methods one can use if one decides to learn by Kung videos, learn taekwondo online, or whatever. The first method, though it is still of the monkey see monkey do variety, is to learn a form or martial arts kata. The learning curve starts to take off, however, when one realizes that they can practice the form facing in any of the four directions of the compass.

One faces in a certain direction when learning a form, maybe because they are watching a martial arts video, gets used to the direction, even uses key things in the environment to orient themselves. So to start facing north instead of south is actually a good thing. One quickly discards environmental cues and starts inputting the form without need for external reference points.

A second way to learn self defense forms is to simply do them on both the right and the left side. Everybody comes across this one pretty quickly. To do the Kung Fu forms, or the karate techniques on both the right side and the left side tends to ‘wake up the brain,’ and to make the student consider martial arts moves in new lights.

learn karate onlineThe third way of studying martial arts forms is to do the moves in reverse. Do your Karate kata backwards-not just the order of blocks and kicks and such in reverse order, but reverse motion the moves themselves-and the martial arts are quickly going to open up. Not many people have experienced this little trick, it is hard to do, but man…does it work!

Now, we have actually left most martial artists behind with the last thing we did, and that’s too bad, because things are about to come undone. Once one learns how to write a matrix on a martial art-be it karate or kung fu or whatever martial art they practice-they think they have opened up wide new horizons of martial arts. They have only scratched the hide of the monster, however, for there are two other things that one can do that are simple and yet have profound results.

First, one can put matrixes together; just as the matrixes use basic techniques to open up other techniques, one can use whole matrixes to open up other matrixes. Second, one can actually flip, or reverse, matrixes, and this one opens up the mind and causes massive amounts of data to unfold. Of course, one has to learn how to write a matrix first, and then do a few of them, but once they have done this they will be able to reverse the matrix and learn martial arts faster; they will be able to learn Karate or taekwondo or any martial art they want faster than Neo can play hop scotch.

The Hardest Thing to Overcome in Karate Training

Karate Traininng Will Make a Man Out of You!

I’m speaking as a martial arts teacher here, but I trust you will be able to use my data concerning the hardest thing to overcome in Karate training, or any martial arts training.
I’ve had people come in my school and tell me what I was supposed to teach them. They would lay out their curriculum, and then disappear.
And, if you think this is an oddity, consider the old Japanese zen parable (made famous by Bruce Lee), you can’t put more tea in a cup that is full…you must empty your cup.
One guy came into my school and all he wanted to do was find a temple on the mountain and kneel at the feet of the master and learn all the really secret things. It was obvious that he had been reading too many comic books; he just wasn’t connected to reality. Heck, if I had told him to do a horse stance for five minutes he would have cried and wailed like a baby.
The main thing these days is the youtube martial artist. This is a guy who has poured over youtube, looked at all the martial arts, done what he saw on the screen. He actually isn’t toobad, except that he has no idea what he is doing. The snippets on youtube, no matter how extensive, are not instruction, they are advertising clips designed to lure the unwary and easily excitable.
What? You thought you were going to find the secret of the universe on the internet? that you could just google ‘Secrets of the Universe’ and they would just flash onto the scree…instant enlightenment and all the martial arts downloaded into your brain like Neo?
Empty your cup, grasshopper, then learn how to sweat. The best things in life are not necessarily free…they have to be earned with sweat and bruises and a humble attitude.

Martial Arts Cross Training is The Way To Get Good!

Okay, I do a lot of cross training in the martial arts. When I was doing Karate I did some weights, some running, basics calisthenics type of stuff.
When I did Kung Fu I did running and swimming and yoga type stuff.
And, as I went through arts, I was always looking from some new game to play, some way to wake up my muscles and find better ways to control them.
Baseball, loved baseball. Ping pong, billiards, skating, even pogo sticking and stilting.
Simply anything and everything was fair game. Wake the body up, have fun, relate it to martial arts.
But martial arts was the mainstay, this because the martial arts exercises every single muscle in the body.
And, there is a point to it all. Survival.
Now, I have to tell you I feel sorry for people who do exercises, but not martial arts. They play for a while, then they get old. I always come across old people who talk about how they loved to dance, but no longer do it. Or they loved to hike, but they no longer do it.
Do you see it? There is not only the whole body approach, but the purpose, and the desire to survive right through your old age.
Anyway, I know this is meandering, but if you aren’t doing the martial arts, start doing them. Find an art, any art, that appeals to your desire to live and love and play games and…survive. That’s what Martial Arts Cross Training is all about. Pick up a free book at Learn Karate Online. Best way to start.

The Problem When You Learn Karate and How to Freestyle

When you learn Karate there are the forms and the techniques, and then there is how to freestyle. Why are they different? Why can’t you use the techniques from Classical Karate in Freestyle? Check out the video, then I’ll tell you about it.

There are two answers to this.

First, you can use bunkai in kumite, you can use those form applications in freestyle, when you are a black belt. But you can only use them against lower belts. Upper belts will be wise to your tricks, grin, and they won’t fall for it. But the lower belts, they just don’t know enough, haven’t practiced enough.

So your form techniques should work on the street, if you have a good instructor, a good system, and you have been a good student.

Second, there is a huge, massive gap of data; there are chunks of art missing from Karate (and other arts) which, if understood, will close the gap between classical forms and freestyle.

This is the thrust of the Matrixing method, to enable students to see those missing pieces, downsize that chunk of what you don’t know down to nothing, and you will find that classical forms and freestyle are virtually the same.

No, I am not kidding you…that’s the truth.

Over the years well meaning teachers have just not figured out what was missing, and have, in certain cases, contributed to the occlusion of data.

Here’s what one instructor had to say after seeing the Matrix Karate Course…

“…because of the Matrix concept, I have totally re-structured my self defense program…”

I get these kinds of wins every couple of weeks. Some guy is introducing matrixing, restructuring his class, and basically getting rid of that huge chunk of missing martial arts information.

If you matrix, you can learn  karate, and you can learn how to freestyle, and they will mesh and merge and come perfectly together. There will be all sorts of things that suddenly appear and make sense…things you didn’t even know existed. The Matrix Karate course is available at Monster Martial Arts.

Matrix Karate is a Martial Arts…and It Is Not

Many people back off from Matrix Karate. They think it is a watered down Karate, or a baby art, or something like that.

Fact, it is not watered down, it is intensified…because it is pure. Toss out the influences of the other arts, and you have one of the deadliest arts possible.

Fact, while there is a fighting art in the course, the true thrust of the material is towards presenting a method for analyzing all arts.

You see, you can make any art pure, and make any art deadly, if you toss out all the bushwah, poser crap and concentrate on distilling motion into the most logical format possible.

Yes, there is Karate, but Matrix refers to a mathematical grid which you use to plot all motion.

Thus, you can use the matrix on any art, make any art pure, and, BTW, ten times easier to learn.

Think about it this way…if you wanted to direct a fellow to a specific restaurant in New York, would you have him memorize a painting? Or would you write specific directions having to do with the exact streets he has to take to get there?

The fellow who is learning the martial arts today is memorizing paintings. The Matrixer is learning explicit directions which are exact and precise.

Check out Monster Martial Arts if you want to learn more about how to Matrix Martial Arts.
